Niche Marketing To Craigs List

Monday, December 14th, 2009

Most Businesses these days have to do some sort of Internet niche marketing if they want to keep their head above water. If you are a small-business owner like me, chances are you have had to learn some niche marketing strategies in order to survive, perhaps even begrudgingly. I know myself, I would rather be focusing on learning more about my craft and my business itself, not the ins and outs of niche marketing. Yet niche marketing has brought me a greater appreciation for my customers and their needs. In fact, I even enjoy it now.

In this article I will share with you general approaches for one of the most viable free traffic sources on the Internet: Craig’s List.

The big “Internet gurus” are just finally getting around to noticing this incredible source of free traffic. Yes, Craig’s list is a Goldmine of marketing opportunities awaiting you if approached correctly. If approached blindly however, you can waste a lot of time and not see any reward. There are a few unique strategies that I employ now that have sent my click rates through the roof.

You see, I live in San Francisco. (the birthplace of Craig’s list) I have seen Craig’s List grow from a very small list into a worldwide phenomena. I have been marketing on Craig’s list for 10 years and know all the tricks. In fact, I have spoken with Craig many times (yes there is a real guy named Craig). To some people the Craig’s List web site might look a little complicated. Do this right now, open up another browser window and I will walk you through a few areas of the web site, highlighting the potential free niche marketing options.

* Community *
In the upper left-hand corner is this box. Listed as subheadings are “activities”, “artists”, “general”, “pets”, and others.

The “General” category is an excellent place for any kind of free report or other free promotional activity. Really, anything goes in this category. Having said that, you do not want to post anything in here that mentions a fee or even has prominently displayed fee based services on your landing page. If you do, it will likely get flagged, quickly.

However you can market your free newsletters, free reports, free tele-classes. If you have a niche product that corresponds to one of the subheadings, all the better. For instance if you are promoting a book on dog training, the ” pets” category here could be a gold mine.

* Personals *
You may think “personals” is a total waste of time unless you are looking for a date, however, the “missed connections”, “rants and raves” and “miscellaneous romance” could be a viable place for Marketing a free newsletter or free products or relationship tools or similar things. Again, be careful with fee-based products. The Craig’s list community will flag them very quickly.

* Discussion forums *
It speaks for itself. In general, these are focused discussions on an array of topics. Currently there are 72 discussion forums active. The discussions are worldwide, existing on every Craig’s list. Personally, I have not spent much time here, but I bet you could have great success if you found an appropriate niche. These are real-time discussions. (Hmm, I have to try this myself)

* For Sale *
Yes, For Sale. How have you overlooked this before? These are free classified ads going out to thousands and thousands of people interested in what you are selling in every major city in the world. These are focused niche categories. There are many ways to promote products. For instance, there is a “computer” category. Presumably, those that click on this category will be looking to buy a computer or computer related products. What if you wrote an e-book on how to maintain your computer? Sell it here. “Registry Cleaner Affiliate”, sell it here. There are categories like “Sports“, ” musical instruments”, “motorcycles”, “general”. Check this out. It is a real goldmine. I still promote Free stuff here, with the “For Sale” items at the landing page.

* Services *
“Services” is where independent businesses can place free ads. Niches include, “financial”, “legal”, “therapeutic”. This is also a category where you can flat out promote your services. And it is all free.

How to Leverage the Power of Craig’s List.

Craig’s list is operational in hundreds of cities all over the world now. This gives the opportunity to put free ads in front of thousands and thousands of people every day, focused and targeted toward your niche. However, who has the time to post hundreds of advertisements? I certainly do not. And, one thing about the Craig’s list niche marketing strategy – you must post a lot of ads and rotate them regularly.

This is not easy as Craig’s list has duplication flag that will not allow you to post the same message in more than one location or at one time. So, the way around this is to write several different ads. Just change the wording; it is simple. Yet, it takes time. You only have to do it once. It is time well spent.

What I do is write several different ads/postings for different categories.

For example:
I have “Free Stuff” Ads for the Community and other non-sales areas. I have several free reports and several e-mail newsletters. So, I have four or five different versions of each “Free Stuff” Ad.

I have “Paid Products and Services” Ads For the Sale and Services Sections. I also have four or five different versions of several paid products that I list in the “For Sale” and “Services” section. Part of my business is in the therapeutic section.

Every day I have at least 15 to 20 Craig’s list ads targeting specific niches. I generally post in the most populated and active communities. I rotate the ads so as to not set off the duplicate content filters.

Niche Marketing to Craig’s list can be very profitable if it is done correctly. It can also be very time-consuming. As someone who has grown up in the Craig’s list community, I have seen the ins and outs of of it for years (since 1997 to be precise) and realize its quirky nature. The methods I now use took me about six or seven years to develop and research.

All of your efforts will do no good if your postings get flagged by the community or if your delivery and approach is wrong. In short, niche marketing to Craig’s list can be an absolute gold mine if done correctly. If done incorrectly, you can waste a lot of time and not see any results.

Free Niche Marketing Source

Monday, December 14th, 2009

Niche marketing strategies are something all Internet Businesses and entrepreneurs are having to reckon with these days if they want to keep their head above water and profits in the black . I have had to learn niche marketing begrudgingly, perhaps like you, through some painful trial and error, and wasted money on over-hyped, expensive Internet marketing products. Yet, learning the ins and outs of niche marketing has been a matter of survival for my business. In this article I will share with you one of the most powerful and overlooked sources of free niche marketing traffic.

It is incredible to me with all of the hype over “Web 2.0″ all of the so-called “gurus” have overlooked niche marketing strategies from one of the most visible and vibrant sources of free traffic on the Internet. This traffic source has been around since the beginning of the Internet and it is still important.

Internet groups.

Yes that means, Yahoo! Groups, MSN Groups, Google groups and other places where people freely congregate around their shared interests.

These groups offer a gold mine of interested, rabid prospects. People in these newsgroups will devour your information if it is good and properly conveyed to them. These are people who voluntarily joined a group to interact with others around a common interest; The same interest you are promoting in your niche. They were not bribed by a free newsletter, nor did they have other carrots dangled in front of them to join. You are not trying to sell them on your idea. They already get it and deep down inside, they want you to have the answer they are looking for.

Think about this for a minute. Internet groups are laser targeted, interested prospects. You can send them unlimited messages. Every day if you like, you can start a conversation or interact with exactly the customers you want to interact with in your chosen niche. Furthermore, the postings you make go directly to their inbox (if that is their preference) or they can read it at the Group page.

No Spam filters to get in the way or people rolling their eyes because of an unwanted message. They are interested. Now multiply that times hundreds of thousands of people,.. get the picture?

The leading newsgroups are still Yahoo, MSN and Google. If you are new to “Group Search” pages at one of these portals, a quick look at the Yahoo groups page shows some startling numbers. The numbers after the categories refer to the number of Groups, not the number of people. For instance if you are marketing a “Health and Wellness” product (which happens to be my niche) there are over 125,000 groups that you can join to market this product on Yahoo – 125,000 groups!! — again, completely free for you to e-mail as much as you like.

No Spam worries — no credibility gap — just a bunch of eager people interested in the same thing you are interested in telling them.

Now, realistically you will not need to join or want to join 125,000 groups. But within that broad niche, you will be able to focus on at least 50 groups that are viable and vibrant, each with thousands of people in them. If you play your cards right you can easily establish yourself as a trusted authority and eventually prosper.

With all of these groups you will reach focused, interested people and potential customers. Yet, people are savvy and skeptical on the Internet these days because of so much Spamming and devious tactics, so you must be careful or you will alienate yourself from them.

As was said earlier, no one bribed them to join the group, it was their decision, they are free. This freedom also gives them a certain power that must be respected. You are entering their group and you must speak to them properly. Frankly, Internet marketers have turned the Internet into a very rude place. It has taken me quite a while to learn how to approach and profit greatly from my association with niche Marketing to Internet groups.

The bottom line is, Internet groups offer the promise of easily building an Electronic Rolodex of laser guided, targeted prospects eager to read your messages and interact with you about your products and services, day after day.

If you approach niche marketing to Internet groups in the proper way, a sweet fruit awaits you. If you approach them badly, the fruit will be as bitter as the others are sweet.

Easy Internet Marketing Strategy Tips for your Internet Marketing Company

Monday, December 14th, 2009

Getting your Internet Marketing company running and earning may seem a colossal task to accomplish, but careful planning and some simple Internet marketing strategy tricks and tips, things should be a whole lot easier. Here are some of those tactics you should keep in mind, and you’re well on your way to earning with your Internet marketing company.

Content Is Basic

This is probably one of the most important of the many Internet marketing strategy tips. Your website’s content says a lot about your web intent marketing company; hence, you should put up the best that you can with it. It’s not enough that you have all the keywords in it. When it doesn’t sound interesting, it’s as good as it wasn’t there at all. Make sure to have your content proofread and edited for any spelling, grammar, and contextual errors. When stating facts, make sure that they have been well researched and are accurate. Of course, don’t forget to choose an interesting topic to talk about. Find something that will be appealing to your targeted audience.

Updating Your Content

In the Internet marketing world, updating does not mean every twenty-four hours. For your Internet marketing company to succeed, updating your content and your site in general means doing so every hour. A boring content will obviously be difficult to update every now and then. Professionals in the Internet marketing strategy area advice online Business owners to update their content every hour if possible because this is what search engines in general are hungry for. If you get their liking, then you will most probably be kept at the top of their listings—a much-needed advantage needed by your Internet marketing company. Don’t forget to avoid duplicating content if you can’t afford getting penalized for doing so.

Short and Simple

To maximize the opportunity you are dealt with the people’s very short attention span, experts in the field of Internet marketing strategy suggests that keeping your content simple and short is important. People will remember your site together with its products and services when your content is short enough for people to digest quickly. This is because when surfing, they only try to scan web pages and not read through the entire thing. Try to use headlines that will win their attention right away and bullet points for important data you would really want them to read.

Also, avoid using fancy-looking features in your web pages. Although people will find it interesting to see great-looking sites, multi-colored web pages may seem not to serious for them to go over. Colored fonts and other widgets may also seem annoying for some visitors. Don’t forget that putting up a lot of applications in your web site will slow down the uploading time, making most visitors leave instead of wait for them to finish.

Keywords, Keywords, Keywords

Another important Internet marketing strategy that your Internet marketing company should know is the use of the right keywords at the right places and at the right time. Knowing what keywords web users are most likely to use is not enough. For your Internet marketing company to stand out among its competitors, you need to know how exactly to utilize these keywords and make them work for your site. It also pays to learn the many styles in which to use these keywords and phrases so they can enhance search results. Optimizing every single page in your site and not just the home page is equally vital.

Conclusion

These are just some of the tips in Internet marketing strategy that can help you build a good foundation for your Internet marketing company. With a little creativity and being resourceful enough, your Internet marketing company should be able to reap the fruits of success soon.

Niche Marketing Tips: What is Niche Marketing?

Friday, December 4th, 2009

Niche marketing is a term that gets kicked around a lot. And in most cases it’s a term that is used incorrectly.

It’s worth pointing out that niche Marketing applies not only to the world of online information marketing and/or affiliate marketing. Businesses of every model from inventors & product developers to food service companies and fashion magazines are all very aware of the need to niche their marketing efforts.

Regardless of what Business you are in, the core idea behind the term niche marketing remains the same. A niche is a tightly focused group of customers who are interested in highly specific products and services.

This marketing philosophy is all about finding these tight groups of prospects, identifying exactly what they want, and then selling it to them. This taught in the best selling niche marketing course Nicheblueprint

This is, of course, a simplified explanation. But it captures the fundamentals nicely and if you understand the above statement you are well ahead of most of your competition.

The majority of people who have or want to launch an online business have no real idea what a niche market is. It’s common for people to talk about very broad topics such as dog grooming, Health & fitness, automobiles, and so forth when the topic of finding a niche comes up.

In other words people tend to think the term niche refers to a broad market category. This is incorrect.

Dog grooming is an ENORMOUS market. If you were to decide right here on the spot to start a venture based on the idea of selling dog grooming information online you would probably be crushed by the massive competition, unless of course you are an expert with several existing contacts in this field.

On the other hand, if you know quite a bit about applying a special type of nail polish to toy poodle breeds, you might have a valid niche market idea on your hands. Can you see the point I’m making?

True niche marketing is about finding very specific consumer needs and catering to those needs. The more specific the need for a product or service, the tighter the niche is said to be. And note the key words “consumer needs”.

The successful niche marketer wastes no time on guesswork. In fact he or she will not even consider selling a product or service until it’s clear there is a real demand for it.

The first step in any venture is to find out what people really want. Once you have proof that people are willing and able to buy a particular product, you make arrangements to become a provider of this product.

In today’s highly competitive online marketplace niche marketing is without a doubt the best practice for start-ups. At the very least you should understand the basics before spending your time and money on a new venture.

Most new entrepreneurs go about the entire process backwards: They find or develop what they believe to be a “hot” product, and then begin looking for people to sell this product to.

This results in frustration and failure nearly every time. So don’t go against the true grain here; do your homework in the beginning and improve your chances of massive success by huge margins. Try a course like Nicheblueprint for more information.

Affiliate Marketing is a Great Way to Monetize your Website

Friday, December 4th, 2009

Affiliate marketing is one of the most promising ways to make cash online. Affiliate marketing is still new enough that it’s still anyone’s game. Affiliate Marketing is a spin-off of Internet marketing where the advertisement publisher gets renumerated for every purchaser or sale supplied by him. Affiliate marketing is supposed to be about long-term and mutual beneficial partnerships between advertisers and affiliates. Affiliate marketing is a process of promoting web businesses (merchants/advertisers) in which an affiliate (publisher) is renumerated for every visitor, subscriber, customer, and/or sale supplied through his/her efforts.

Affiliate Sites

Affiliate marketing has developed quickly since its inception. Affiliate sites are often categorized by merchants (advertisers) and affiliate networks. Affiliate networks that have already a number of advertisers usually also have a sizeable number of publishers. Affiliate program indexes are one way to find affiliate programs, another is large affiliate networks that provide the platform for dozens or even hundreds of advertisers. Affiliate marketing is bigger than ever, because the rewards can be greater for those who are willing to put the effort into endorsing affiliate products to their niches.

Affiliate Marketing

The dilemma with the word affiliate marketing is that it is often confused with network-marketing or multi-level marketing what it is certainly not. The ability to create a stream of income automatically is one that anyone can achieve with affiliate marketing, all it takes is time, a bit of hard work, and a lot of persistence. With the sheer amount of cash that can be made with affiliate marketing right now you are actually losing cash the longer that you delay. As the affiliate marketing programs offer and pay a regular commission more and more people are attracted to it. Since affiliate marketing is done entirely online you can work while you are at home, at the coffee shop, or anywhere that has web access.

Affiliate Programs

The number of affiliate programs just a few years back was much smaller than it is today. The days when programs could create considerable income for the merchant even if they were poorly managed or not at all is over. Those uncontrolled programs were one of the reasons why some of the not so positive examples of affiliates were able to do what they did e.g. spamming, cookie cutting , trademark infringement, false Advertising, typo squatting etc. With so may affiliate programs to choose from, you have the ability to market something that interests you. Another benefit of having so many options to choose from is that there is no limit of how many programs you join.

Affiliate Marketing is easy and it really works if done properly. Affiliate marketing is typically being run by affiliate networks and these affiliate networks are composed of two functional bodies, the group of affiliates and the group of merchants. Affiliate marketing is a great situation for both the vendor and the affiliate. Affiliate Marketing is a great way to add to the income from your website. Affiliate marketing is one of the most lucrative Businesses in the world, so perhaps it’s time you got started.

Best Online Marketing Techniques

Friday, December 4th, 2009

I have been in internet marketing for over ten years and

have seen marketing techniques come and go. Some are

still around and some are new and innovative. Below you

will find what I believe to be the best and most effective

marketing techniques.

Article Marketing – Article marketing was and is one of the

most powerful online marketing methods available. Not only

does it do wonders for you and your business, it is free!

Article marketing consists of writing helpful, informative,

easy to understand articles that actually help your readers,

not try to sell them something. Then you submit them to

article banks, directories and to ezine publishers. When

your article runs in a popular ezine, it can do great things

for your business. Writing articles is not as hard as you

might think so give it a try. You will be surprised at how

much it can do for your business.

Remember:

Don’t worry about fancy words. People are looking for help

not big words.

Advertise in your resource box, not your article.

Provide real, helpful info and resources, not hype!

Write from the heart! Let your personality shine through

in your articles.

Blogging – Blogging is a newer form of online marketing

that just started becoming popular in the late 90’s. Blog

is short for weblog and means an online publication in the

form of a log or journal. Blogs can increase your customer

base, your traffic and your search engine ranking, thus

increasing your sales!

Blogging can be done for free through such sites as:

blogger.com, wordpress.com and livejournal.com

Be sure and update your blog regularly; everyday would be

best, as people like fresh content, ideas and information.

Ezine Publishing – Ezine publishing has been around

much longer than blogging and is far more effective, in my

opinion. Your ezine needs to contain helpful resources,

information, not just sales pitches. Develop a relationship

with your readers. Let them know they can trust you and

rely on you when they need your help.

Things to remember when putting together your ezine:

Keep it clean and easy to read.

Limit your advertising and be selective.

Always provide quality content and information.

Add your personality so your readers can get to know you.

Always provide contact info; make yourself available

to your readers.

Be consistent; send your ezine out regularly as scheduled.

Be sure and proofread your ezine before sending it out.

Online Networking – Online networking, as with offline

networking, is very important to your business. This is

when you contact as many people as possible to learn more

and share more about your business. Many leads can come

from networking. There are several ways to do this online.

Email Discussion Groups – go to yahoogroups.com and search

for the appropriate groups.

Message Boards – Be sure and follow the rules and offer help

whenever possible.

Social Sites – Such as MySpace, Ryze, Merchant Circle, etc.

These can be great ways to make more contacts and get more

leads.

Joint Ventures – This is when you enter into an agreement

with another online marketer that will benefit both of you.

Examples of joint ventures are:

Ezine ad swaps

Ebook ad swaps

Subscription page ad swaps

Affiliate programs

Exchanging advertising for percentage of sales

and the list goes on and on. Be creative and come up with

new ways you and another Business owner can help each other.

Podcasting – Podcasting is using digital Media files which

are distributed all over the internet via syndication feeds.

Podcasting is still a fairly new way of online marketing.

Podcasting can be powerful because it uses voice, not words

to get the message across. Offer your articles, do voice

interviews, offer a chapter of your ebook via podcast, etc.

Again, use your imagination and create new ways to spread

the word about your business.

Ezine Advertising – Advertising your business, product,

service, etc. in quality ezines can be well worth the money

spent. There are a few things you can do to help you choose

which ezines to advertise in.

Do a search to find ezines that cater to your target market.

For example: if you are advertising kids books, you don’t

want to advertise in a all about cars ezine.

Once you find several target market ezines, subscribe to

them so you can look them over, find out about the

dependency of the publisher, read feedback from other

subscribers and just overall learn what the ezine is about.

Try contacting the publisher to see if they respond to your

email. Ask about testimonials from other advertisers. How

many ads do they run per issue and what the ads cost.

Ask the publisher to do an ad swap to test the waters and

see if you get a response to your ad. Be selective in your

choices and always code your ads so you know which ezines

actually deliver results.

I hope this article has given you some insight as to how

to market your online/home business. I use several of these

methods ( and the rest of them I should be using) and know

from experience that they work!

The possibilities with the internet are endless and we need

to keep up with new and innovative ways of marketing our

business. And we also need to keep using the tried and

true older methods of online marketing as well.
